Winner:
"The External World" by David O’Reilly
This film uses an absurd and wild approach with humorous scenes to comment on daily life. Raising expectations and immediately destroying them again, it uses a very rough and reduced style of animation at the other end of animation like Pixar, that would make Walt Disney turn in his grave. In a radically not-compliant fashion, it dives happily into deliberately politically incorrectness. “Don’t worry – it’s just animation” - the ASIFA-Austria award goes to The External World by David O’Reilly.

Special mentions:
"/… (flüssiges papier)" by Michel Klöfkorn
For its strong material character and its tangible sense of depth that stems from an original use of very precise and hand-made paper-cuts, a special mention goes to Michel Klöfkorn.
"Playtime" by Stephen Woloshen
For his joyful and masterly combination of Norman McLaren’s tradition of direct-animation with and the use of found footage, together with a perfectly synchronous music we give a special mention to Playtime by Stephen Woloshen.
