ANIMAFEST SCANNER V

Symposium for contemporary animation studies at the World Festival of Animated Film Animafest Zagreb

5–6 June 2018

By connecting animation with fields like psychology, sports and new media applications, the symposium Animafest Scanner is again at the frontline of the discourse and the interaction between theoretical and practical approaches. Located at one of the most respected animation festivals in the world, it is a meeting point of many leading artists and professionals. The fifth edition of the Symposium for Contemporary Animation Animafest Scanner V aims to stimulate the exchange between filmmakers and scholars

This year’s keynote speaker is the recipient of the Animafest Zagreb Award for Outstanding Contributions to Animation Studies for 2018 Paul Wells, UK. He is an internationally established scholar and screenwriter, director of the Animation Academy at Loughborough University UK and chair of the Association of British Animation Collections (ABAC). Having published widely in animation and film studies with books like Understanding Animation and Re-Imagining Animation, he is also editor of the journal Animation Practice, Process & Production.

Paul Wells is the recipient of the Animafest Zagreb Award for outstanding contributions to animation studies for 2018. (more information)

Submission Requirements
Submit an abstract for a twenty-minute theoretical or historical presentations held in English.
Presentations must be thematically related to this year’s symposium topics.
For each proposal the applicant is required to fill out a separate online entry form. Only correctly filled out forms will be accepted, entry forms are available here.

Submission deadline is 1 March 2018.
