Artist in Residence 2022
Three times BAFTA nominated and award winning Osbert Parker, is perhaps best known for using innovative film techniques, that combine photo cut-out animation with objects and live action to create one-of-a-kind imaginary landscapes in mixed media short films, commercials, TV entertainment and online content. His latest film is the main title sequence for Stephen King’s LISEY’S STORY.

Interview: Artist-in-Residence Nöel Palazzo
Nöel Palazzo is a curator, screenwriter, lecturer and researcher with a special interest in abstract film, and the rich intersection between Fine Arts and Media. She occasionally delves into making experimental videos and animations, and writes essays as a film critic. A couple of her short films have been awarded internationally. Invited by ASIFA AUSTRIA, she spends May and June 2019 as Artist-in-Residence in Vienna and has created an installation for the ASIFAKEIL, on display until June 23, 2019.

Artist in Residence 2018 –
Nikita Diakur is a Russian-born film maker based in Mainz, Germany. He studied Animation at the Royal College of Art in London, where he produced “Fly on the Window” that went on to screen at international film festivals such as Zagreb, Annecy and Edinburgh. Diakur is now making short films influenced by prominent internet stories and animated via the process of computer simulation.

„During my stay at the Q21 residency I will be directly working on the 3 piece video installation, which corresponds to the experimental animation project: Fantástico Encarnado, an inventory of the strangely familiar, which will be exhibited during the VIS Festival.”
Artist in Residence 2016: Sebastian Buerkner
Sebastian Buerkner ist im April und Mai auf Einladung von ASIFA AUSTRIA Artist in Residence im Museumsquartier in Wien.
Während dieses Aufenthalts gestaltet Buerkner unter anderem die Installation „The Tenants“ im ASIFA AUSTRIA-Showroom Asifakeil, ein analoges, stereoskopisches Objekt als Work in Progress, das sich während der gesamten Ausstellungsdauer immer wieder verändern wird.
Er hält beim Symposium Under the Radar einen Vortrag und präsentiert seinen preisgekrönten stereoskopischen Film „The Chimera of M“.
