Billy Roisz: rincÓn

Videoinstallation
In the dark corners of ASIFAKEIL, where walls and floor meet, Billy Roisz unfurls an electric spiderweb—a shimmering, electric tapestry of color and light that captivates the viewer and dissolves the boundary between perception and space. The architecture itself becomes the canvas, the resonating surface of a pulsating, constantly shifting visual tapestry. The title rincÓn alludes ambiguously to the Spanish word for „corner“ or „angle“—and simultaneously to the common name of a South American spider species that prefers to lurk in dark corners to ambush its prey.
As part of the MQ showroom openings, Billy Roisz will personally present her video installation and open it with a short performance.
Billy Roisz is a filmmaker, musician, and artist. Being a self-taught artist, she finds her creative inspiration in the extremely open DIY environment of the digital and analog electronic and noise scene in Vienna during the Y2K transition. Since 1998, she has worked with video and sound. The aesthetics of image and sound disruption, such as feedback and distortion, is one of her central areas of experimentation, while the interweaving and repurposing of image- and sound-generating instruments is her technical approach. Her artistic realization usually happens as audiovisual live performances, concerts, video works, and spatial installations.
