Anna Vasof: NON-STOP STOP-MOTION MACHINES

A video installation showing mechanisms that produce Non Stop Stop Motion films.
Non-Stop Stop-Motion is a new animation technique in which a video camera continuously films a motion change illusion caused by the “stop-motion” properties of the setting. The final movie has similar intermittent movements as in Stop-Motion animation technique, however its media reflective nature has a stronger influence on its content and form.
To create a Non-Stop Stop-Motion movie a specific sequential set up of incremented objects or images, named hyperframes, is required. Those hyperframes are placed in a specific way in each movie and often the camera needs to be mounted on mechanisms or machines which enable it to move to ensure the appropriate effect when filming the sequence.

Anna Vasof won the ASIFA AUSTRIA Award/Best Austrian Animation 2014 with her film „Domino“.

On occasion of the opening of her Asifakeil-installation on February 17, Anna will personally present her artistic work.
