UNDER THE RADAR 2022

Programm: Festival and Conference

The over-arching idea of the topic is the question about established and proven structures and procedures in comparison to the attempt to search and strive for alternative possibilities.

This – of course – is not a new or unusual approach, but it remains a tricky question to work with.
It can lead to many possible additional questions to ask, of which only a few are listed here:
Do we have to re-invent the wheel again and again?
Is it necessary to change what is already working well?
Is it not better to rely on what is successful than try out something uncommon?
Will an audience appreciate a non-traditional approach if they are not used to it?
Everything has been done before, so why pretend that something different might exist.
What is existing now came out of a long process of development, so why not continue on a trusted path?

The idea of a meeting is to discuss such questions from a personal angle.
Participants are encouraged to present their individual work and relate it to the above-mentioned questions.
This is also about discussing the abstract idea of general possibilities to expand formats, structures, procedures and expectations for artistic work and theoretical examinations.
It also includes sharing insights into personal projects as long as they include an element related to this search or exploration – the „Quest for an OPEN FORM.“
Our guest can either present ideas in a talk-like format, or in conversations/panels, or a mixed format with screenings, etc, as long as an exchange with the audience on site is possible.
