FANTASTICO ENCARNADO

Die Installation „FANTASTICO ENCARNADO“ ist ein längerfristiges Projekt von Andrea Jimenes Robles (Mexico City) in Zusammenarbeiten mit KünstlerInnen aus Mexiko und Lettland.

In seiner Endfassung wird die Raum-Installation aus sechs verschiedenen in Endlosschleife laufenden Animationsfilmen und Multi-Channel Sound bestehen. In verschiedenen internationalen Stationen präsentiert sich die Installation den räumlichen und zeitlichen Gegebenheiten angepasst in unterschiedlichen Fassungen.

Nach einem ersten Einblick in den Arbeitsprozess anlässlich der Präsentation im Asifakeil im MQ (18.4. – 31.5.) wird die Fassung der Installation, die während VIS – Vienna Shorts Filmfestival in den Räumen der SCHAUSTELLE (2. – 6.6.) gezeigt wird, aus drei Projektionen und räumlich arrangiertem Sound bestehen.

Inhalticher Ausgangspunkt des Projektes ist der Text „Das Unheimliche“ von Sigmund Freud. Eine Serie experimenteller Animationen thematisieren verbotene Erinnerungen, verborgene Phantasien und wiederkehrende Träume, die sich auf seltsame Weise manifestieren. Die Animationen wurden mit unterschiedlichen experimentellen Techniken hergestellt, und beinhalten unter anderem Zeichnung und Kratztechniken, Malerei mit Ölfarbe auf Glas und Aufnahmen von Chinatusche mit Unterlicht.

The installation FANTÁSTICO ENCARNADO is an ongoing project Andrea Robles (Mexico City) in collaboration with Latvian and Mexican artists.

In its final version, the project will consist of six film loops of animation projected within a spacial arrangement and multi-channel sound.
Presented internationally in its several stages at different locations, the project always reacts to the site-specific conditions concerning space and time. After presenting a first insight into the work process and a selection of films at the exhibition in Museumsquartier Vienna (18.4. – 31.5.) the version of the installation at SCHAUSTELLE during VIS – Vienna (2. – 6.6.) will consist of three projections and multi-channel sound.

Starting point regarding the content of the installation project is the text Das Unheimliche, written by Sigmund Freud in 1919. A series of experimental animation pieces explore forbidden memories, hidden fantasies and recurrent dreams that are manifested in peculiar ways. The pieces were created with different experimental techniques ranging from drawing, scratching and painting on paper to oil color on glass and animation of Chinese ink on a light table.
